Balance in Llfe

Getting Too Comfortable.

I know that on our coins there are three sides to the triangle: Unity, Service and Recovery. I have been told that Unity is being involved in the program by going to meetings and staying connected with a community of similar minded people with common experiences. Service is about helping others, whether it is in the rooms of a meeting or in your community around you. Thus keeping you focused on others and not becoming self-centered.  Recovery is for practicing the principles in all of your actions everyday.

I have been told over and over, that the slip starts long before you start using again. Remaining vigilant in my program and learning to recognize when I am not maintaining a balance in my life of Unity, Service and Recovery is important for me to not get caught up in the spiral before it happens.

I have noticed that in my life lately that I am becoming a little stagnant, a little too comfortable with where I am at. Feeling good about who I am and how far I have come, “resting on my laurels” is what my sponsor would say. So I decided to take a look at myself and see what, of the three things mentioned on the coins I was missing or lacking in. I practice the principles to the best of my ability in everything I do. I work with others on a daily basis,I  help my family out everyday and give back to my community by volunteering. The things I saw that I was not as active in was going to meetings, sharing my story and connecting with those that understand what I have been through.

So I started going to meetings more regularly than I was and immediately noticed that I was more motivated in my personal and business endeavors. It is amazing how quickly things can refocus when we are balanced in our lives.
